hi,
What's the difference between an ISO dial and the Exposure compensation dial on the canon A1?

Do these two dials not do the same in the end ?
Also , can an ISO dial be changed in the middle of the film?
thx in advance

There is only 1 dial, but 2 markers.

With the left, movable, marker you mark the ASA value on the dial. Then you can twist the dial along the right zero-marker, if you want temporarily change the exposure metering.

With all cameras one can change the ISO setting throughout the film.
At cameras with more basic controls (e.g. AE-1), this is just the only means for that change at exposere metering. However at these cameras one then may loose memory of what the actual ISO setting was. Thus at some cameras these two functions are parted (e.g. A-1).

Lieven, to my understanding you do not read German, but in case you do, next to the Canon manual for the A-1 there also is book on using the A-1 by Ludwig Knülle, part of of a handbook series on Canon cameras by publisher VWI in cooperation with Canon. These books go more into detail on the operation of these cameras.
