Does the eyepiece unscrew on the Canon 7? I am interested in adding a diopter to correct my nearsightedness and was wondering if the eyepiece unscrews and if any of the Nikon or other available diopters would fit.

Yes, the eyepiece does unscrew, but not without great difficulty. It helps to take the top plate off if you want to remove the eyepiece. As for changing diopters, I'm not sure if a Nikon screw-in eyepiece would fit. For what it's worth, the Canon 7 left the factory with a -2 diopter. The Canon 7sZ camera had a -1 diopter.

The factory -2 correction explains why it my least blurry camera that doesn't have diopter correction. Perhaps I can get new glass fitted to the eyepiece?

If you can find one, Canon did make (0), +1.5, -2.5 diopters, in addition to -1 and -2. A good optics person could probably custom-make an eyepiece that suits your need.
