Hey Y'all,

I'm borrowing a friend's Canon 7 for the weekend and I'm having some trouble distinguishing when to use the light meter in high or low sensitivity mode. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The user manual is quite confusing/limited in it's description of this function and I've found very little about this online.

I'll be shooting Agfa Vista 400 with a 50mm 1.4 Canon LTM in a daylight street setting.

And suggestions as to use of high vs low meter modes would be very useful, thanks!
(Or if you know of a thread where this has already been covered, then please direct me and shame accordingly.)

There are two colors, red and black, on the two way knob on the back of the camera. Which ever one is in the up position is the one reading - there is also a detent for each. One is useful in dim light - the other for sunny exteriors. For the daylight exterior shots you'll use the black dot on top setting which will correspond with the white f stops on the meter -- the dim light setting is the red and the meter has red f stops. The shutter is linked to the meter so as you adjust it the dial on the meter moves to compensate. It's pretty hard to put into words but not hard to use! It's hard to make a mistake as you don't expect to shoot f2 in bright sunlight.

As jgoody explained you should use the high sensitivity on the interior (dim light) and low sensitivity on the exterior (daylight)..

That's assuming the meter works properly. Better check it against a known accurate meter, either in a camera or handheld.
