Hi,

I would like to hear opinions of the Canham DLC2. I've read most of what's over on the Large Format Forum, but not everybody here is there.

Any experience? Likes? Dislikes?

I've had his wood 4x5x7 for several years and am a happy customer. Considering the DLC2 for situations where compact really matters. Yeah I know all the other LF gear probably makes it moot, but still asking!

I have just recently purchased a used original DLC (mint condition) and although I haven't actually photographed anything with it yet, I can tell you that it's solid and I like it very much.

If all you need is "compact", you are all set. If weight is a concern, there are many lighter options.

I have the MQC57, the DLC's "big brother". It's a sturdy, rigid and very versatile camera built upon the same general principles. These are cameras for those who want the sturdiness of a metal camera in the field but the compact folding of a traditional wooden field camera. Everything's a compromise and the price that you pay for the rigidity of a metal field camera is a bit more weight. You can find the size and weight for all of these cameras and readily compare online.
