Watching the Stars vs Oilers the other night I was reminded of a question I've had for at least a couple of years. What is that Canadian Tire symbol that resembles a cheeseless pizza slice with a mapel leaf growing out of the edge crust supposed to be?

The history of the logo: https://corp.canadiantire.ca/CT-100-Logo-History/

The triangular logo is at least 95 years old, and made for a very recognizable sign out in front of the store. You can clearly see a sign like that hanging from the front of the building in the photo from 1927.

Hmm - "cheeseless pizza slice".
Were you perhaps hungry when you noticed that? 😄 😉

I worked at a Canadian Tire for a couple of years, while going to art school. The owner of the store, told me that the triangle idea was derived from an oil funnel. Funny, I never thought of it as a pizza slice. Now I'll never be able to unsee that. Thanks a lot. 🤨
