Can someone do Tech film test? I will send film & developer

Hello all,
RE: the Tech Pan type films...
Well, I got 2 rolls of Blue Fire Police, 1 roll of ADOX CMS 25 and 1 roll of Rollei ATP1. Also 1 fresh roll of T-Max 100 to compare them to.

Problem: I have to be honest and admit I do not have time to do a test like this - I am building a practice.

Solution: Who ever feels they can do a good test, and share the results with the community here, will get the film and phenidone developer I bought for this project. I will ship them to you for free - you just have to promise to do a slightly scientific test, and share your findings.

To have someone else do your testing effectively wipes out the reason for testing, that is, to see how the film/developer combination works out under your system i.e., your camera meter, your shutter/aperture system, your agitation regime, etc. All those are key to the results one is looking for. You will be getting results that favor the one doing the testing. Good chance it won't do you any good at all. JMHO.

Hi Jed, I must agree with Mr. Porter. I used to ask my students to compare photography to painting. Which is better, oil or watercolor? What color blue is the sky?

Testing film can only be done by you. It will be your style of shooting, your type and accuracy of metering, the level of contrast that you like, etc.

If you're going to be working hard at your practice, you will need a hobby and photography is a good one. Darkroom time is relaxing time!

Hehe...well, I wish I could be lazy right now. But, I do get your drift. Alright, I'll just keep the stuff, and at some point do some testing here...

Dear Jed,

I am a student in college, and as I have never shot pan before, I have had the interest to, and after reading your post, I did some research on the web and decided that the kind you chose looks like an amazing type of film. I have, however, passed both photo I and photo II with flying colors, and have had a 35mm in my hands since i was 16. i am 23 now. It might interest you also I have done a exposure index test seeing as how you would like a scientific based test. I have my own darkroom and i also have the college darkroom at my disposal. I shoot Nikon FA, n65, and d200. Also a crown graphex (learning), and recently acquired a '37 Argus that I like very much. I am interested so that i may learn and in turn teach others. I can post the results according to your specifics and we can be a team if you would like more details or a link to some of my digital images please let me know.

It's the same as an unscientific, uncontrolled test except you get to wear a lab coat.
