Hey everyone,

Is it true that it is safe to work under normal Non-UV interior light during the Platinum/Palladium printing process? I know that it is safe to turn the lights on during the clearing process, after my prints have been developed, however, I heard recently that the entire process can be performed with the lights on. Anyone out there know about this?

I usually coat by north window light, but no direct sunlight. I have coated at night by regular incandescent light (60 watts) at a distance of about 4 feet. All air drying is done in a dark cabinet.

I do this for gum printing as well...

Awesome, thanks guys! The dark room that I'm working has regular (non-Black light) fluorescent overhead bulbs...

Ditto for incandescent light. You can get a clip-on fixture in most any hardware store. It is my understanding that many if not all fluorescent bulbs emit UV. Perhaps not enough to create a problem but avoiding them when coating and drying the emulsion eliminates the possibility.

Thanks! I'll get a 60watt incandescent with a portable plug-in fixture and use that. Appreciate it.
