If i were to use SFX 200 without using the Ilford SFX filter how would that affect the appearance of my pictures?

Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong forum. Will look for a more appropriate one.

Hi,
Yes but it will look like a normal B & W.

The extended red sensitivity does have a subtle effect. Try shooting some to see if you like the results (I do).

Yes, but it's an expensive film to shoot normally, at least when compared to the Arista Premium brands.

Yes you can, however, if you are taking, for instance, a street shot on a very sunny day, things like whitewashed walls will look a little brighter than you might expect

Unless I was using most of the film with at least a red filter and better still a SFX filter to get the " the wood effect" I'd shoot ordinary 400 film. Yes it's OK for non IR shots but is very grainy for its speed as an ordinary film. That combined with its cost means that ordinary non IR type shots should be the exception rather than the rule.

Take away the red or SFX filter and it wouldn't be much of a rival to any normal film up to at least ISO400 - IMO of course
