I've Beseler 67 printmaker and I'm using it to do my own B&W prints, I want to start learning color printing so I was looking for beseler color heads and found this one, can I use it instead of the head installed already? Is it any good?

Thanks

There are a number of different (but similar) colour heads designed to be used on Beseler 67 series enlargers. I could be wrong, but I think a "67C" head is actually a simple condenser head (not a colour head) whereas a "Dichro 67" head is a colour head.

How exactly is the head "badged"?

you are correct I think it's the mistake of the seller on EBay, he's listing it 67C color head but the image shows Beseler dichro 67

As I understand it then, the head should work fine on the printmaker chassis.

Some of the newer heads have built in power supplies, but most of the older heads required a separate power supply, and different versions required different power supplies, so make sure that it either functions without a separate power supply or comes with the correct power supply.

At least one head required a separate power supply but used a standard wall plug to connect to it - if you plug the cord from the head directly into either a timer or the wall, the bulbs will blow!

Thanks Matt, it actually comes with its power supply. Thank you again for your help

You are welcome - maybe it will look like this when you are finished.

By the way, the colour heads work really well with variable contrast black and white printing!
