I don't want a cell phone or internet service. Can buy a cell phone with good camera performance and capture images on the phone's micro SD card that I will down load on my computer to use PhotoShop?

If you can let me know. I had an Iphone 5 and I can't get it to do anything pass the screen that it asked me to activate. I tossed it. I had no problem using an old Samsung Galaxie S4 for that purpose.

This should work just fine if you have Wi-Fi in your home. You would probably get a definitive answer posting this on an iPhone discussion forum.

You mean that some "smart" phones can be complete idiots without an internet connection?

I'd think so, but I only use android. But why? Dedicated cameras are better in most respects, especially comparing to older phones (newer ones have surpassed some compact cameras in some ways due to on-board image processing).

Most cellphones do not use sd cards as the photos are stored in internal memory. You would need to connect the phone to your computer through wifi or usb cable to download your photos.

Yes, you can use an old iPhone without cell service as a camera. You can even connect it to a local WiFi without problems.

I have an old iPhone 6 I still use as an alarm clock and infrequent web browsing by my bedside.

Disable the cell service.

I do this with an old iPhone 6. Via Wi-Fi I listen to radio stations from all over the country and while doing light yard work without messing up a good phone.

FYI, iPhones don't have memory cards, so you can't remove the card to load on a PC. You need another way t get the images off the camera.

As others have confirmed, yes, you can. And you can connect to a computer via a cable to transfer images off of it, but you can also use any number of other transfer methods, including iCloud Photos, AirDrop (if you have a Mac), Google Drive, etc.

Meaning that you can take the pic but can't do anything with it until you upload it somewhere.
