Can I put 6x9 film in 6x7 negative carrier

I know this is a stupid question, but my enlarger can only enlarge up to 6x7, and I only shoot 6x9. I just want to confirm if there is any overlooked problem

Sure. you will get a crop, 1mm on each of the horizonal ends. Depending on the enlarger, if the negative stage has room and if the condenser or mixing box if color head will cover you can filed or grind out the negative carrier carrier to 6X9.

It will fit fine because it is the same width, but you'll cut off a bit on one side or both -- usually no big deal.

I actually use an enlarged 6x8.5 (effectively) carrier in my 6x7 enlarger, and am happy with the prints.

Should be fine as long as there are no sharp edges in your carrier cutout. Whether or not you can get away with lengthening the format cutout can be tested in advance by using a cardboard mockup carrier. It also depends on the focal length of your enlarging lens. Most overhead mixing boxes are a bit oversized already; but you'd have to measure.

No it will just allow for a 6X7 crop from your 6X9 negative. I shoot 6X9 and usually crop in a bit for an 8X10 inch print. If you want to print full frame 6X9 then you need to check to see if the enlarger negative stage cut out has room for a 6X9 and if your enlarger head, either condenser or mixing box will cover 6X9 without fallout in the corners. If both are yes then you file out the edges of the negative carrier by 1mm, sand down the edgrs to make sure no metal filling will damage the negative and you are good to go. I think it is a lot of work for not much gain. A lot depends on your enlarger. My LP 670 will not, the negative carrier stage is cut out for 6X7. and the mixing box will only cover 6X7. I use my 4X5 enlarger for 6X9 and 4X5. What brand and model enlarger do you have?

If you want to be on the safe side, you can cut out matt board for 6X9 negative on the bottom of the stack, the matt board then the top plate of the carrier. My Omega D 3 will take the additional thickness, my LP 670 likely will not.

I happen to be using an LPL 7700 as well. You should have no problem using the 6x7 glassless carrier.
I have done a minor modification on the glass universal carrier, and can just about print a full 6x9 negative with that - I prefer to think of it as a 6x8.5 carrier when I do that. I am comfortable with the minimal level of light fall off in the corners.
That is with the VCCE head. There may be unacceptable light fall off with other light sources.

People keep writing 1 mm on each end of the opening... Nominally, it's 1 cm = 10 mm. In fact, 6x7 is usually 67 mm, while 6x9 is about 84 (varies between cameras and film backs), but you'd need to compare to your actual negatives if you want to avoid a crop.

you'd have to enlarge by 1 CM not MM.

What enlarger do you have? Some medium format enlargers will only handle 6x6 or 6x7 at the largest. I used to have an Omega B22 which was absolutely limited to 6x6.

I have a D 3, no issues with 6X9, my other 2 are MF, the LP 6X7 and I have a 6X6, the LP negative stage might be enlarged, but I have the color head, the mixing box cannot altered and the 6X6 is way too small. Maybe with a condenser head the LP would cover 6X9. In OP case I would go with cropping into the 6X9 negative.
