Can I jury-rig lens into shutter?

Okay so I have what was labeled a copal one press shutter but the threads seems to be different. The front thread of the shutter is too large to fit my G-Claron 305mm or 210mm (even thought the back element fits). So I was wondering if I can simply hot glue the lens into the shutter and seal the edges with aluminum tape to make it light proof?

I would order some kind of adapter but I'm not sure what the front threads are for this mystery shutter. I attached a pic of the shutter.

Strictly speaking, no. The spacing between the front and rear would be questionable. Besides, where's the aperture markings on that shutter? Probably an idea best left forgotten.

That is probably not a good idea. The lens cells should be parallel to each other, and the spacing between the cells should be correct. Copal press shutters were used extensively with scientific instruments that had instant film backs. This shutter may have come from such an instrument.

Well the reason I was considering gluing it in the first place is because the lens screws completely down until it's stopped by the housing of the shutter. So just placing the lens in there makes it flush with the outer shutter housing (the exact same place it would be if it were to be screwed in) and then the glue would just secure it from moving laterally. Considering that, I don't feel the distance would be an issue at all.

However, keeping the lens cells parallel to each other would be an issue. What effects would one see if the cells were not lined up exactly?

Edit: Okay so I figured out how to center the front lens pretty close to perfect. I wrapped the threads with foil tape until it fit into the opening with zero movement. I guess it should work, maybe no perfectly but I should be able to take some photos.

As was mentioned in post #2 above, cell spacing is critical. Check it.

No. The front and rear cells must be spaced correctly to each other, and the aperture must be correctly oriented between the cells. Whithin about one third the diameter of a hair.

Another issue to consider, non-standard shutters (like those intended to carry copy lenses) might have different cell spacing....

That and hotglue sounds like a terrible idea, outgassing, ever removing the lenses and so on.....

Just look for a proper shutter, cheapest way is often to look for budget lenses in shutter.
