Can High Altitude Shooting Cause Haze?

Hello,
I currently live at an elevation of 5,846 feet. My camera arsenal includes an Olympus XA, Olympus Stylus Epic and a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 with a Zeiss 50/1.7 lens. Among all my shots there is a discernable haze even when the day is crystal clear. It is kind of tough to describe. A kind of light orange/yellow fog would be my best try. Is this UV perhaps and would the elevation be causing this? Would a filter (at least on the yashica) help? The situation is annoying because it mostly effects color saturation, which I like alot of. Thanks for any ideas.

Did you try shooting indoor? I don't think so but I couldn't tell you. Have you shot at low altitudes and had no problem?

I've photographed at those altitudes with no problems in the Andes and the Swiss Alps, but you can get severe problems. You may well need a UV filter, a Skylight 1a or a stronger Haze 2a filter. See Tiffen's page here.

Try a different processing lab.

UV usually shows as a blue tint or coloration, not orange or yellow.
