Can Fingerprints Damage Film?

There has been something bugging me since accidentally touching a few of my slides.

The question is, can fingerprints damage film over time, or am I ok until I can purchase the supplies to clean them?

Analog
Oil and other residue from your fingers can have longer term effects on the film. You can clean them with Isopropyl alcohol and then store them safely after.
