Can cyanotype solution be sprayed on rather than brushed on?

I have recently been playing around with making some cyanotypes, having fun learning about various papers and the process in general.

I wonder who on this forum has tried spraying the cyanotype solution onto paper or other materials? What type of sprayer would be appropriate/effective to use? How about an atomizer? Or a simple pump sprayer?

I've sprayed it onto t-shirts with a cheap spray bottle from the dollar store, so why not?

Part of the reason I asked about spraying is I am wondering how much sensitizer is needed. Some things I read say it should penetrate too deep into the substrate, but I have no idea what that actually means practically.

My daughter still has the one I made for her a couple of years ago. Wash by hand in cold water seems to be the trick.

How much? Couldn't tell you but not nearly as much as what's needed for t-shirts. You want it to penetrate, but not too much. Depends on the paper, and humidity of the room. Experimentation is in order.

Thanks Andrew. I assume that in 2 years there have been several washes in what I take to be water from the "cold" tap. On that basis and I assume very little fading or reasonable fading- everything fades slightly- that's pretty good
