can anyone recommend a 35mm slide mounter?

need a 35mm slide mounter, anyone have experience with it? doesn't have to be fancy,but convenience is necessary and no more than 100$.

I just gave away my Pakon slide mounter and imprinter. If you don't want any scratches on your slides **do not** get the portable polaroid mounter. Automatic slide mounters such as the Pakon brand are selling for around $100 dollars used and the slide mounts are cheap $110 for a box of 2500. These machines used to be over $1000 brand new. Go figure. Good luck, you should have no problem finding what you need on Ebay.

so those portable ones are no good? That was actually what in my mind. I've those Pakon mounters on ebay, and they look relatively bulky and heavy.
No one really uses mounters these days? then how do people make slides?

Polariod mounters will work on snap slides

I certianly dont mount a ton of slides. Whe I shoot E-6, I process the roll, and aftger loupe viewing on the light table, I thread then into a polaroid mounter. I keep a few of the polaroid mounts, becasue that sets the correct slide length when cutting sequential slides.

Otherwise I use a pair of claen cotton gloves, and pick the slide film pieces up after cutting and snap them into brand x - or slide them into old ektachome slip in mounts that I find in a lot of the trays when I buy up carousel trays at estate sales.

The polaroid mounter and 300 mounts came from *bay a few years ago for $14, Before that I used cltton gloves and scissors. Slow but for the 5 to 10 slides out of 36 that I shoot and am really happy with taht works too.

I used the Polaroid slide mounter for years and never scratched one slide - and I have ten thumbs, all on the left hand! (I'm not the most capable craftsman at times.) Perhaps the one you used was damaged? Of course, I've used it mostly on Polaroid film, but it never let me down.

I was able to pick up a complete setup from Gepe off of *bay for a great price, well under $100, along with a ton of mounts. I have only used it a few times since purchasing it, but, it has worked great. Here is a link:

Thank you for all the replies.
Now I'm kinda confused by the different kinds of mounting unit. Should I get the "hand pressing" one or the all in one mount? I've never done this before. So the all in one mount would work faster and more efficient? I saw GEPE makes both and they are around the same price.

Not sure which one is better. I have the first one and have used it with both mount types.

I had a bad experience with those polaroid mounters. It scratched the slides + I found it annoying to snap the mount sides together. I found it better to individually cut by hand the frames with cotton gloves on and then slip the fames into the Gepe/Pakon Quick mounts.

It's not that people don't use mounter's it that F***ing digital has taken over and the volume of slide shooters is way, way, way down so companies that process slide film are getting out of the business and selling there mounters.

$5,000.00 Pakon slide mounters sell on ebay (when people actually bid) for ~200.00. They are built like battle ships and will mount 36 slides in about as many seconds.
