Cameras with MD/MC Mount

Hi,

besides the Minolta (SRT/and others) series, what other cameras with MC/MD mounts are there?
I am looking for other bodies to reuse my lenses.

There are adapters to use with lots of SLRs. I use mine on my canon with an EOS adapter.

Seagull from China made some 35mm SLRs with Minolta mounts. The most famous was the Seagull DF-1, which I have. The lens it came with was excellent, but the body is built really poorly.

Basically that's all. There were one or two chinese cameras with this mount and the Braun SR2000 but if you want a certain quality you are stuck with Minolta.
Minolta lenses can be adapted to other cameras but since the lens register is rather small you loose infinity focus with most SLRs.

What's wrong with the X-series MD bodies? They're some of the best 35mm cameras ever made and cheap as dirt nowadays.

the mount is an SR MOUNT NOT MD/MC

Minolta lenses can be adapted to other cameras but since the lens register is rather small you loose infinity focus with most SLRs.

Not too sure where that info came from but the Minolta manual SR mount lenses can actually be adapted to a number of digitals. All of the ones I am aware of focus to infinity just fine when the correct adaptor is used.

Minolta x-700, if you can find one that hasn't been used much. Awesome little workhorse with full automation, but also easy to use manually. Only complaint is the aperture indexing mechanism on mine failed, but only after much abuse (see; dropping it hard enough to knock the focusing screen out).

There's nothing wrong with them. Except the fact that viewfinder information, metering modes and shutter speeds are much more capable on e.g. an EOS3.

Even if we take the technical possibilities of 1979 into account some things could have been made better:
- why going back to cloth shutter with the X700? With a further development of the XD7 shutter 1/2000 would have been possible
- why not placing a mask with shutter speeds in front of the metering LEDs in the viewfinder so that one can see the selected shutter speeds in the dark?
- selective AND average metering was technical possible - but more expensive.

Although I like the XD7 and the X700 they are sometimes a limitation.

No need to second guess the Minolta X700 some 30+ years after it's release as it won the 1981 European Camera of the Year.

It - as well as any other camera before or since, have their limitations. We photographers - likely more so then any others, know about compromises as we constantly work within limitations of our tools, the light and the subject.
