Hrm. I didn't in Firefox. I have no clue why you would.

Anyway, it's just a Graphic stripped down to the wood and polished. It's very pretty.

Graphics are made from a soft type of box wood, and most definitely not Mahogany . . . . . .

But I've done the same to a pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic and the wood looks excellent French polished. I don't think my wife would appreciate me bidding for the tripod

It is a nice looking camera. I have a Crown Graphic that had the same treatment but whoever did it did not do as nice a job. Mine looks okay but the glossy finish on the wood on mine is uneven in spots. I've thought about tearing it all down and doing a refinish on the wood but have not done so as yet.

Thankfully the camera works well no matter how it looks. :D

Nude Photo Camera

There was an eBay seller who had the word bikini in every item description. Each item was shown next to or being held by a woman in a bikini. I don't kow if this seller is still on eBay.

Of interest,

the Grafic Graflex Photography manual "NEW" 10th edition January 1954 Lib of Congress Card number 40-4902, lists the particulars and specs etc for each product manufactured. All cameras except the Century Graphic 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 are listed as manufactured of Mahogany and metal and XXX Morocco.** The Century Graphic is Mahoganite and Imitation leather...

Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphics, Miniture Speed Graphics, and Anniversary Speed Graphics as well as Pacemaker Crown Graphics are Mahogany and Metal and XXX Morocco.

**The Pace Maker Speed Graphics "23" (2 1/4 x 3 1/4) and the "34" (3 1/4 x 4 1/4) and the "45" (4 x 5) are Mahogany and metal and PLASTIC Coated Fabric.

I am going to see if my wife will let me pose my eBay items on her butt like that. I think her opinion will be something like "I don't kcuffing think so!!"

To all, in the inimitable words of Eeyore, "Thanks for noticin."

My wife and I had fun with the ad, and we enjoyed refinishing the camera together, too.

I meant the tone, length, TM symbols all over the place, and the XL45 tag as parodies of Littman's pola-mod ads. Perhaps I should have added a VINTAGE + MODERN line in a fancy type font and weird colors as well. Ah, well, maybe for the next one. The gallery photo for the "Naked Crown" was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Cheeky, to be sure. I hope no one was offended. (And, I'm keeping the bi-pod!)

Dave, thanks for posting the official word on the mahagony body. Mark and Stephanie, thanks for the kind words. John, Rude, man, rude.

We'll have another camera up in a few days, putting the final touches on now. And if anyone is interested in doing one of these for yourself, let me know and I'll pass on what I have learned. The most important of which is removing leather from pre-51 models is a breeze, removing the leatherette from 1951 and later models is a bitch.

Cheers,
Michael

Welcome, it was nice to see a humorous post, camera and sale.

As I said earlier in the thread I've done the same, and I'd do it again if the right camera came along.

Thanks, Ian. I did a Dec. 1940 Anniversary Speed a couple of months ago. Found the front standard, bed yoke, and rail guides were solid brass.--all covered in layers of faded black paint. I removed all the paint and the brass work with the mahagony body was quite stunning. Was your pre-Anni in brass, too? I've seen photos of some later Annis that seem to have the aluminum rail instead of brass...

I think my pre-Anniversary is brass, it's in the UK, so I can't check at the moment - I'm currently in Turkey. Mines non standard though it's not a folder, it started life as a special for wide-angle use.

Maybe I should try polishing up the brass work, I'll look when I go to the UK in a couple of weeks.

I bought 2 old very tatty Speed Graphics sold as a pair to make one good one, the seller neglected to say they were quite different, almost nothing is interchangeable. The 2nd an Anniversary Speed had no shutter so I filled the holes in its side and have now recovered it.

Both my post Anniversary Speed and Crown Graphics have aluminium rails, as far as I know from the Anniversary models and onwards they all used the same trackbed rails etc.
