Camera smells like cologne

*ahem!* that’s probably what you think. That’s what all smokers think

I have been having nothing but bad luck with these non-film camera's, and I love to shoot slides.

But shooting film is difficult given my living situation (hence the purchase of the D300s).

Took a Nikkormat to a local Houston camera repairman for a CLA. When I got it back a few weeks later, it so reeked of cologne that I could hardly stand to use it.
The smell eventually wore off.

How many of you could live with a camera that smelled strongly of mens cologne?

I have one, and apparently, the former own bathed in it!

I am now investigating ways to rid it of the smell.
Store in the drawer with an open container of baking soda for a week and smell should be gone.

So you are insinuating that I smell? I'm puffing on a quality Virginia tobacco. I plan to stop smoking for the health of my cameras now. Tar deposits in the delicate mechanisms could act like dried grease.

I have decided to hang Mr Cologne by a short tree limb for a couple of days to see if it brings about any improvement.

I also plan to replace the faux leather that the smell is impregnated in.

Time will tell what else will be needed.
