Camera repair shops in Ontario Canada

I don't know if this the right category for this,so moderators feel free to move it to the appropriate forum. I just found out that Camtech Camera Repair in Hamilton no longer does repairs which is why I'm asking for any suggestions or recommendations for another company that does repairs on vintage camera lenses and cameras. Most of what I have that needs repair are shutter/lens combinations from large format view cameras and folding cameras as well as 35mm rangefinders and SLRs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recommendations are rather tough because it depends very much on the camera make and model, as well as the problem. If the shutter is frozen, or you want an overhaul (springs, seals, o-rings, etc.), whomever you send it to will likely forward it to a better equipped shop with the proper parts. (you hope). For very old camaeras you may wind up getting a mixture of new and used replacement parts, resulting in a "Franken-Camera".

I would ask the folks at Film Plus or Downtown about this, they seem to embrace film .

Thank you all for your replies.I have used Sunflower Camera repair in the past. He repaired my Nikon FG's film advance about 10 years ago but as I stated in my original post what I have that needs repair are large format lens/shutter combinations for both modern and vintage cameras, mostly folders, but some rangefinders ,such as a Kodak Chevron and Yashica Minister III.

I guess if I can't find anyone up here in Canada, I'l expand my search to the U.S.

You could try the Camera Repair Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The guys there love working on old film cameras and actually have quite a collection, some for sale, of vintage gear. Their email doesn't work though, or rather it sends your email to a member of a church near the business for some reason. I was hoping that I could find someone in Toronto. I was always prepared to send the shutters and cameras out I just thought for convenience and to save the cost of postage I could find someone in Toronto to do the repairs. I just checked the Camera Repair website in Halifax and they appear to be the one I have been looking for. I'll have to contact them with a specific shutter in mind to see if they are up to the challenge.

I brought him an F3 but he was unable to repair it so I can't provide too much of a review but he seemed to know his stuff.

Had the same experience, took a camera in and he couldn't repair it, and it seemed worse off then before I brought it in. I won't be taking anything there again.

Sometimes it pays to ship out to an expert out of town/province/country, especially if it's something obscure or sentimentally important.
