I just processed my first film. Woohoo! (Kinda.)

It wasn't an important film. It was one I more or less burned through in order to process it (to see if I actually know what I'm doing). Basically all but 4 exposures - 1,2, 5 & 6 - came out clear. However the exposures that were successfully processed look really good!

It was my second 120 film shot in a Mamiya RB67 and I suspect that I may have double exposed, over exposed or incorrectly advanced the film somehow. The first film I had processed at a lab and it was fine.

That said, is there any chance at all that there was some kind of mess up with the processing? A misstep in dilution?

I'm just hoping to deduce this to the operation of the camera itself, rather than wonder where I might have messed up along the way of mixing chemicals and all that.

Thanks for any input!

If some of the frames look really good, it's not a processing error. It must be something in your exposure or advancing the film.

Hi Melinda, As you describe it, that sounds like a camera/operator issue. Were the film improperly processed then all the frames would be blank. The fact that some came out ok rules that out. Check the camera over thoroughly without film in to ensure that the shutter and aperature are operating ok and then try again with another film and make sure that you are doing your part.

Is it the original Mamiya RB67 Pro, or the later Pro-S or Pro-SD models?
If it is the original Pro model, it is possible to leave the dark slide in and think one is taking a picture.
If by chance you have an older Pro back on the later models, the same thing can happen.

If whole frames are good, and whole frames are bad...with no frames a mixture...then it's highly unlikely to be a processing issue. Can you post a photo of your negatives?
