Camera or Film?

Hi all,

I am a long time lurker and this is my first post. I had a question that some of you might be able to answer. I bought a Minolta X-570 and I ran a test roll through it but my negatives had some strange light leaks on them. The light leaks are random between the frames and I am not sure if it is due to the processing, the camera or the fact that I bought cheap film ( this is also the first time using this film, its Lomo 400 color film).

I do not see anything unusual about frame 22 (2nd photo).

Looks like there was a light leak of some sort between 23A and 24. Is this a 36 exposure roll or 24 exposure?

looks like a light leak -- did you by any chance accidentally open the camera back just a titch?

in any event, try a second roll, be careful in handling the film. See what happens.

Sprocket holes on 22. Roll the negatives until the fogging on 22 lines up with the fog on frame 23.
I've seen the sprocket hole thing on film that had the back opened with film on the take up spool. The light trap on the end of the camera amy be at fault if the camera wasn't used for a while with the film advanced to 23.

it was a roll of 36 exp. in the second photo there are what looks like exposed sprockets between the the holes. Also no I did not open the back. I am planning on shooting another roll this weekend if i have time, this time I am using HP5 and developing it my self just to eliminate the possibility of it being the film (though I really don't think its the film) and/or the lab processing.

I know that I did not open the back (I have been using film for 20 years, I know to be care full) but I had left my camera out around a lot of people and some one might of opened it. For some reason I did not think about the light seals - it might be that. It is deteriorated at the bottom.

It looks like the camera needs new light seals. Get a kit, replace the seals and it will be good as new.

Micro-tools have cheap light seals kit - I got one and it is enough for 20 cameras. I clean old seal with some alcohol and ear sticks.
