Nothing like strip-mining the past for present priorities--and profit!

Came across this in Interview a few weeks back. More grist for the "WTF! That's Art?" mill:

Have to confess to framing some original ads. Better start grabbing more ahead of the crowd!

I recall an Audi advertisement comparing their design concept with a Leica IIIg, but can't find it on Google.

BTW, how'd the V500 shake out, cliveh?

Still got a few problems. I manage digital technology in some ways, but not really my medium.

Who here isn't into a bit of camera bling? Admit, though, that's a whole lotta titanium moonshot ape$hit bling.

I've like titanium ever since I saw an entire tank turret blank made of it. But that Leica isn't even pretty, which I consider a bigger betrayal by Leica. I wonder if it too is pre-assembled in Portugal before being "Made in Germany".

It's a butt-ugly little spud, true. Wonder if a "Porsche design" attempt would have been prettier? One-offs like Minolta's Prod 20--sexy according to some--were at least affordable. The Leica is just wretched excess for drug lords and/or Goldman Sachs princes.

It's called appropriation and self promotion... it's how to be successful since 1996.

I always laughed about the Nissan 300z commercial saying "Headlamp as precise as a Hasselblad lens". It's Zeiss dumb arses!

I've been saving old ads especially Nikon ones from old National Geographic for years.
