Cambo Legend repair info needed

I am in need of disassembly information for the Cambo Legend standards. Primarily the swings are near stuck due to dried lubrication and the disassembly to access the pivot is not apparent. I put TriFlow around the accessible portion and am leaving them to sit for tonight.

And, no I will not send them to a service center so don't suggest it.

I believe you can unscrew the tightening screws at least you could on my old Cambo and remove the swings. But I could be wrong

And I got it apart. Remove a shift scale; remove the shift rail spacer, 3 screws with thread locking glue; remove base from upright; remove lock lever, another thread lock glued screw; remove large tensioning screw then separate.



Will most likely have to use lacquer thinner to remove the lubricant turned glue.

What puzzles me is that this is a quite young camera. I have not yet experienced such with a device this age.

Cambo Master Shift and Swing Issues

i know this post was awhile ago but before I start a new post i wanted to see if i could find out what your finding where. My Cambo Master standards swing is tight and rear stander lateral shift has issues. I can't lock it down and it slips when using the knob. so i removed it so I'm using it manually which works fine but would be nicer if i could use as intended. Hope you have some finding to share about the dissemble and hopeful reassemble.

I found Fingernail Polish Remover aka Acetone dissolved the threadlocker after allowing it to work for 3 to 5 minutes per screw. Fully disassembled the moving parts, cleaned, lubed with teflon base grease and reassembled. The set screws for the guide rail have to be tightened so that the rail is even the entire length, and allows no play without binding or excessive drag. Mine functions well but does not get enough use.

The setup is fairly straight forward. Post a picture of your standard's section you are having trouble with and we'll go from there.

Take a look along the control knob shaft where it goes into the standard. Some where between the outside edge of the frame and the threads is a set screw that may have come loose allowing the control to slip out of position. Wear nay also be causing the problem. Correct setting is when the control knob is unlocked and the standard movement is unlocked the know turns smoothly and operates the movement its full range without any binding (too tight) or backlash (play when changing direction of rotation, too lose). Correct in section while out in another suggest worn gear track or misadjusted track.

The issue i am having is with the rear standard knob for shift. The movement is tight with the knob and will not lock down. I remove the three screws for the ruler and losses the allen key so i could use the shift manually it works fine and is smooth but i cant lock it down, worried i will move it when loading a film holder.

What I suggest is removing the standard from the rail, remove the scales (rulers) from both sides, remove the guide rails, the front one has the gear track for movement, and the movement knob with shaft. Thoroughly clean all parts in degreaser/solvent, apply a thin coat of light weight to medium weight grease (most bicycle grease will work fine) and reassemble. The lock on mine does not work that well but the knob has enough tension to prevent accidental movement of the standard.

Another thought, did the shift knob lock get jammed in the lock position? If so it would cause the problem you are having.

And lest we forget, this camera was made in the Netherlands, so everything about it is metric, and that includes the hex screws. You need to use metric hex keys.
