Calumet C1 question.

I think that the combination of a C-1 and a Majestic tripod and head is a near-perfect combination. Eddie, who I bought the camera from, was kind enough to make for me an aluminum support plate that I painted, drilled to countersink the screws, and attached to my own Majestic tripod. The screw on the tripod head actually holds the camera better with the plate than without it, and to cure the slippage between the plate and head, I stuck on 8 of those rubber feet you get for furniture. Solid as a rock.

And, epatsellis, I'm sorry to disappoint but I, quite by chance,just bought the last 2 front standard storage screws that Calumet had in stock. They may get more, or you may need togive Steve Grimes a call. Sorry

I read somewhere that Majestic also made construction scaffolds.

naw, it's an oddball thread, I can just as easily tap them for 6-32 and buy 3 dozen for what it'd cost me to have somebody else do it.

Darn straight you can do it for cheaper! Those 2 screws from Calumet cost me $7 each. I would have said the same thing had it not been for my three debilitating conditions: i'm anal, i'm a perfectionist, i'm anal. That and Jose the parts guy is just so nice that it breaks your heart to say no to him.

Whatever you do, don't look at all the knobs and such at Reid Tool Supply's website, I've replaced several of the handles on equipment that just makes mreo sense. Like the pan knob on my Gitzo 1570M, now it's a lift and turn handle, you can reposition it any way you want and tighten it for a change.

I was lucky to have all of the parts, I noticed that Brett Weston in the video by Frank Wright untightened pulled the front back onto the frame and immediately screwed the two lock screws back in. I wonder why Calumet designed them like that. They would be very easy to loose in the field. The smooth surface of the aluminum plate does cause shift if something isn't put on it like thin foam. Great points on these two issue.

The bale on the 4x5 Calumet has bearings on the contact ends, the 5x7 and 8x10 don't. Maybe they got cheap towards the end of production.
