510 Pyro stock is extremely viscous. It can be annoying to use, especially when trying to measure small amounts that then don't easily drain out of the measuring cylinder. I realize syringes are possible, but that too is a very slow process.
So ... I mixed my remaining stock 1+3 with Glycol to thin it a bit, on the theory that the glycol would inhibit oxidation much as the TEA does. I thus made a stock solution that is at 25% strength.
I simply then use 4 times as much of it when making working developer - say, 20ml in a 500ml run as opposed to the 5ml a 1:100 solution would call for from full strength stock,
Does anyone have a point of view on whether this fundamentally alters the behavior of the developer? That is to say, does diluting a TEA-based stock with glycol in any way undermine the developer's action? Does adding glycol at room temp mix well with the TEA, for instance?
My first few rolls this way look fine, BTW, I am just curious if there is something afoot I should know about.
