Hi, I have an Epson V750 Pro. I've been able to profile it for Transparency and Reflective. My question is: what's the Target I should use to create a scanning profile for Negative Film? As reference I use Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji NPH400. From what I've been able to test, and I'm quite new in regards to film and scanning, using either reflective or transparency targets does not work well when scanning film. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciate it. m.

There isn't a standard way of calibrating negative films like there is for transparencies. My method is to scan so I don't clip the highlights or shadows of the scan. I also capture the film base and use this to adjust the levels of each channel so the film base is black. I then adjust the highlights by hand so the image looks correct. It works well most of the time, but I'm sure there are better methods out there.

Thanks Larry. I thought that just like for positive film, there was a target you could purchase to scan and then using i1Profiler, create a custom ICC profile to assign to the scans of negative.
