For the rest:
basically, the longer the cable and the softer the outer lining, the better.

But depending on use other features may come to play in too.


Macfred, uses a soft (cloth lined) one with a locking screw, but otherwise most basic.

When the old mechanical cable release for my GSW690 and RB67 finally fell apart, I replaced it with a new inexpensive 70cm cable release (less than $10) purchased on eBay.
