Before I get back to work :surprised: have a question for the good folks here. Have a Wollensak Regno shutter, that works pretty well (came with the 8x10 Korona) and would like to figure out how to attach a cabel release to it. Unlike a modern shutter, that you can screw the release into one piece and the cable pushes through to trip the shutter, this one is all one piece and does have a hole where you could screw the release into it, but there is nothing for the cable to push to trip the shutter. Now there does appear to be a place to attach one of the air type shutter release, but not sure if it works. Does anyone have any idea how I can adapt a modern cable to trip this one?

Thanks in advance.

Can you post a picture? I had an old shutter that Carol Miller (Flutot's Camera Repair) fabricated a special cable release for. Works great on the camera but didn't hold up to my 4 yr old son's curiosity. I'm just glad Carol's so good to work with

Old Shutter

If the shutter is functional you will only need to attach a piece of hose and a bulb to the end of the air tube. Vacuum hose from an auto shop works well.

Thanks for the input guys....may just have to fabricate something to get it to work.

Alan, don't have a photo of the shutter and don't have a digital ...hmmmmm! will see if I can find a pic of one like it somewhere.

Jim,good idea - at least I can find out if that will work.

if it is an air-release hose you can get hose and a bulb from a medical supply place -( blood pressure hose + bulb ). it might run you 10$ max

good luck!

cool, i look forward to hearing how my "MacGyver" worked for you ...
it was originally suggested to me for a "wollensak studio shutter" but no-go. if you also use a paper clip and a post it note, you could jump start a car too
