I use paterson tank and load film in dark double zipped changing bag. unless zips has leak i dont think its over-developed. it was 120 seconds at 45 degrees, as per digibase c41 rapid instructions.

The picture of the baby looks fine except at the edges so I fail to see how it can be a home chemical processing fault that processes some of the frame Ok but not other bits of the frame. It looks as if it is more likely to be the kind of issue that PE has mentioned but try two fresh films, process one at home and send the second to a lab and then check to see if there are differences. That at least will establish if there is something wrong with your processing from loading onwards.

It appears that the front of the film made contact with either the processing tank or the back of the film roll and prevented the developer from acting on the film. It may include lack of bleaching, fixing, washing and stabilizing.

Looks/sounds like insufficent solution volume in development and bleaching/fixing stage. Have you noticed and observed the minimum volume requirement for the Paterson tank? It should be typically something around 500-600 ml of solution for two 35mm films with inversion.

The temperature difference is because the drum, reels, and film are cooler than 38C. That is why a prewet at 38C is recommended.

Thanks, Pre-wet for how many minutes? Just let it sit in 38 degree water for few mins or how does it work?
Please ignore my ignorance.

Thanks

There is a whole thread on prewet. I use 1 minute at 38C (100F) for 1 minute before developing. I use 1 change at this temp at 30 seconds.

I use Jobo duolab!
I use a Duolab when I just have a roll or two. Great little machine. I really make sure to warm tank up with a couple pre rinses. I have a CPP2 with a lift it's great, but for small volumes of roll film Duolab makes quick work of it.
Best Regards Mike
