Can anyone tell me what to do if base unexposed emulsion of a c41 neg is not quite as see through as it should be?
I've just processed my first roll at home but the clear neg part is clear just not as much as a lab one. Is it like B&W negs in that it needs more fix, or as it's c41 Bleech/fix?
If you re-bleach and fix, rewash and re-stabilze or the negatives can go bad.
And yes, a wet color negative or transparency is rather dull and opaque until dry. It is due to the index of refraction of the ingredients when wet changing as they dry down.
I cut off a piece and dried it with a hair dryer and sure enough it was fine (wish that was in the instructions!).
However I did re-blix for half the normal time then full rinse and hung up to dry.. do I really need to stabilize?? I just packed all my stuff away let it cool down etc.
