I just developed 7 rolls of C41 120 and 35mm.
All were Portra, Ektar and Fuji except for one roll that I had a problem with.
I recall purchasing this roll in a Sydney photo shop last September.
It not have been expired but I forgot what the brand was, except it was not Fuji or Kodak.
When trying to put this film in the spiral it jammed, and I could feel a split in the edge, so I trimmed it and tried again, this time it tore apart and I had to switch on the light.
So I compared the ability to tear this film with an offcut of Portra, just using the fingers.
It has lower tear strength than the Portra. ( let me say less than half the pull to initiate a tear.)
It is very low humidity here now, less than 10% in the darkroom
My query: is this film likely to have a quality problem, or are some films of less strength and not maybe suitable for use on the spirals with the balls.
The spirals here bend the edges of film a bit as it passes though the balls.
