Hi there....

I ran a test roll on my C330 today to learn snow exposure, and shooting in sunny/snow day.... I just developed my roll and 9 out of 12 have purplish band on one side. NOw I have been playing with this camera for a about a month or so, and ran about 25 rolls and never had this problem.

It was a very bright (sunny) day with fresh snow. Is this the 'sticky shutter in cold weather' problem they talk about ? I don't think it's light leak because the banding is not random. They look identical on all frames.

OR did I do something wrong during development ? I used Jobo c41 press kit as I always do..... but I don't know...

check out the pic. Banding on the left side:

So why all of a sudden I am getting this vertical bending ?

If it was my Mamiya C330F I would get a roll commercially processed to check.

Not anything mechanical in the camera. That's due to a light leak OR due to part of the roll not being fully dunked in one of the chemicals during processing, or something like that. I've seen banding like that once or twice in my time, due to one or other of those effects.

hmm... could it be maybe that the chemicals gone bad ? But I had only 3 rolls developed so far with this batch....
lets say it's the chemicals then why the rest 3 frames don't have the banding ?

Looks like uneven development, maybe you took longer than usual poring in the developer.

Another possibility is the reel may have shifted in the tank and not been fully submerged. I've seen this happen with Paterson and similar developing tanks.

That doesn't look like a light leak at all. A light leak would not be so well defined. It does look like a processing error.

Ian, I am using paterson tank. Maybe that's the problem but it's weird that it happened only once in 25 rolls.

Now I'm shooting another roll, same conditions ~ bright sunny snow day... will see ...

There's a ring that is supposed to stop the spirals shifting particularly in the Multi tanks, I have had it happen more than once and the effect is just like your scan. Try not to agitate too vigorously, that seems to cause the problem.

If you don't have the ring to hold the reel in place on the center spindle, you can substitute a rubber band. Works great, costs nothing, and there are no ill effects from the rubber.

I had a problem on my C330f which caused light leaks. The spring on the film spool was a bit weak and so the take up spool didn't have enough friction to pull against, so didn't roll the take up spool tightly enough and I got light leaks when I took the films out.

Having said that - your bands don't really look like light leaks. My marks were more obvious and widest at the edges and tapered off in both intensity and size towards the centre. Also, the last shots on the frame were worst affected, the ones in the centre of the roll not at all.

It does look more like a 'not quite fully submerged in processing' error from that one pic you've posted...
