I just bought an Elan II and a Beschoi adapter, so I can use my 35-70 and 80-200. However the mirror doesn't clear the
35-70. In the early days of adapting these to Canon, I know people had to shave the mirror on some of the cameras to work. Sent an email to this company, as well as to Fotodiox to see if they have further info on which EOS film bodies will work.

My question is does or has anyone used C/Y lenses on Canon cameras without issues? I would be surprised if the EOS 1N or EOS-3 wouldn't work, but who knows? I am heading on a trip in a bit over two weeks, and have a few rolls of film to use.

Thanks

Shortly after the 5D came out in 2005 or whatnot, the first adapters for the contax/yashica mount came out. However the mirror would hit on the early adapters. Some people would "shave" down the mirror a bit, so the mirror would clear the rear of the lens/adapter. I don't want to do this

However, I DID find some info on my problem. Seems even the 1V, EOS 3, 1N would still have mirror clearance issues, per this website https://www.heritagecameras.co.uk/a...on-eos-film-or-digital-slr-cameras-2793-p.asp

So I will be looking for an Elan 7 i guess.

The op probably means "shave" the mirror. Some people grinded of a couple of mm of the edge of the mirror to allow it to clear the back element of C/Y Zeiss lenses, that were mounted on, for example, the Canon 5D when it came out.

The 4/18mm is notorious for not letting the mirror clear. Consequently there are quite a few copies of this lens on the used market, with a telltale mark on the center of the rear lenselement, where it was struck by an EOS mirror.

This page contains a lot of info.
