I picked it up this C.P. Goerz plate camera in Bisbee Arizona last year. The GG opening measures 127mm x 179mm (5 x 7 inches). It came with a 7 inch Goerz Dagor lens in a helical lens barrel. It has a focal plane shutter that is not working that I hope to get repaired. The camera with lens weighs 5.07 pounds. The front lens panel has shift and rise and fall. There is a pop-up view finder with a filter. The focal plane shutter controls are on the side.

It originally came as a package with a case, tripod, plate holders and a case of exposed glass negatives. It belonged to a mining engineer who worked for Phelps Dodge and the negatives were of the the Phelps Dodge mine and Bisbee during its heyday. Probably the early 20th century. Someone bought the case of glass negative first, then the tripod sold, then the camera case and plate holders. The camera sat there for several years and finally I bought it. Unfortunately the seller didn't know the name of the mining engineer. Hopefully I can find that out in the future.

Normally the camera would have had the fold out extension in the front for 7 1/2 inches of extension. This one has an extra extension back that slides on the back
that gives it 14 1/2 inches of extension. The GG back slides onto that extension.

Not much else to the camera. It folds down to a compact box measuring in inches: 9 1/4 W x 7 3/4 H x 3 7/8 deep

Any information on these cameras would be greatly appreciated.

Dan is right it's Goerz Ango or also know as Ottomar Anschütz Handkamera. They were used amongst other things as camera for wildlife photography and expeditions (even polar ones). The shutter is supposed to be easily repairable by a good repair person. If working they are very good cameras. The size is also not 5x7in but 13x18cm which requires different film as the latter is a tad larger than the former.
