I found a CC Harrison brass lens today at a shop in Chicago and was wondering if anyone might have ideas of where to look for more information on it. The markings are simply C.C. Harrison No. 886 New York. and it seems to be about an 8-10 focal length with a (missing) radial drive focus.

Cheers

What a great find! May I ask which shop? From the serial number list at Dead Link Removed, it looks like it dates to 1849. You've got some luck on your side, I hardly ever see any CC Harrison lenses for sale these days--let alone such an early one. It's a Petzval portrait lens that would likely have been used for shooting up to half-plate size.
