C. Berthiot Eurygraphe Extra Rapide lens w/ Thury & Amey shutter

Picked this kit up at the local thrift. The lens says,

"C. Berthiot Bte bgdg Fabx Opti Paris Eurygraphe Extra Rapide No. 3 F/7 22897"

The shutter says,

"Thurey & Amey Geneve 2146"

My research suggests it's a 213mm lens from 1894. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm (or disconfirm) this and/or provide additional information about it? It seems to be a nice little kit!

Preface: I'm a lifelong amateur photographer, but my knowledge and experience has not ventured past medium format.

Short answer: I don't know if it works. Perhaps because I simply don't know how to operate it?

Long Answer: With the lens pointed at me (1) I disengage the vertical metal piece on the top left hand side, (2) turn the butterfly nut on top clockwise about three clicks to open the shutter, and (3) I press down on the horizontal metal strip on the top left hand side and the shutter fires well. I attempted repeating this procedure while adjusting the circular numbered dial on the top right and found that from 0 to 6 the shutter seems to work as expected. When I hit 7 on the dial the shutter became slow / sticky.

I assume I must be doing something wrong or the shutter is not functioning correctly as cocking the shutter is opening the shutter and then it closes when triggered by pressing on the horizontal metal strip.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
