Hello everyone,

Every now and then I get weird results when developing c-41 at home. After development is done my negatives have a blueish tint and brow and opaque emulsion side. I thought it could be under bleaching, so I did the second bleach/fix cycle when I saw the same result again. It didn't help. After drying negatives become transparent but very dense. Is it overdevelopment or chemicals went bad? I tried to search an answer and didn't find anything. Thanks!

Is there a chance you can rebleach/reBLIX these negs?

Thank you for your replies±

It is either over development or fog or both.

I lean to the fog version, it was an expired in 2000 roll of film. I though of overdevelopment because negatives were really brown opposing to my expectation (and other films I've developed) them be orange.

Is there a chance you can rebleach/reBLIX these negs?

The last time I did! It didn't help.

I stand corrected. Do you know if certain films are always clear, and others are always milky? I think all color films I've processed were milky out of the tank, but of course I haven't processed all film stocks.

Some color films come out clear, and some milky. This is due to the differences in refractive index between the dyes/solvents and gelatin when wet and dry. It varies from film to film and manufacturer to manufacturer.

The blue tint is the same as I had on some of my recent films. I found the problem to be bad fixer. As you say, re bleaching has no affect. I would suggest re fixing in fresh solution.
