My flexicolor developer died, or the part C did. Not big deal, its about 3 years old ( the last of the 3 part developer was unopened and un-used, not mixed, just in the original kodak bottles), so it died from under use, not because of something Kodak did, because of something I didnt do, shoot enough color neg film. I have plenty of fixer, and my bleach seems to be fine, so all i need is the developer.

So my question is, which do i look at? I could go the same flexicolor SM route, but its up to $90 for the 10L developer kit. that seems to be a lot now. I could get a box kit from freestyle, like the tetenal or arista ones, but would have no need for the blix, so it kinds seems like a waste. So could i use the other c-41 developers that a place like unique sells. The Kodak 5L flexicolor LU developer replenisher is only $14, with what i assume to be a rather hefty shipping charge, but still that would be cheaper than the SM kit. I have had great results from using the SM chems, but since I dont shoot a lot of color neg film, I would rather either save some money or buy smaller volume

For those of you who use the separate chems, what doe you use for your developer?

thanks

The LU/LORR kit from Unique is fine. You'll need starter too though. It will make 6.5 liters of working developer and you'll have starter leftover for your next developer purchase.

I use the chemicals suggested by bvy in the sticky in this forum.

Developer only:
EKY8231672 C-41 DEV/REPL LU TM 5L $13.95
EKY6601074 C-41 DEV STARTER LORR 1.2 L $13.00

The SKU numbers and prices are from Unique Photo in New Jersey.

as bvy mentioned the above two items together make 6.5 liters of working solution. I store them in six 1 liter and one 0.5 liter PET bottles, formerly containing seltzer (soda) water. $0.59 each at a discount store for the bottles of seltzer. Peel the drink labels off, wash well, and label with marker according to the new contents.

yes, starter needed, but Unique carries it and it's only $14 or so.
