Hello Everyone,

Has anyone ordered from KEH.com?

Are they pretty reliable vendors?

I noticed they have quite a wide array of used equipment in a wide range of conditions. They seem like an interesting outfit and would appreciate some feedback before taking the plunge.

I have ordered a ton of stuff from Keh for the last 5 years, recommended by my dad who had been buying from them for years prior. I have not had any problems, nor had he. As Evan stated, their descriptive listing always exceeds the stated. I love Keh and I visit their site almost daily looking for new stuff.

Here's a different keh question, if the OP doesn't mind.

Are the prices on keh roughly the going market rates, or are the items you see on keh more likely to be the overpriced items that are left, and haven't sold yet? I'm not quite sure how the dynamics work.

I have found KEH prices in line with most "brick and mortar" stores selling used photo gear. KEH may even be slightly lower than Adorama and B&H, and KEH seems to have more of a selection.

Personally, I like Keh prices, very fair, plus you get a guarantee. Again, their equipment tends to be in better shape then described.

I like their pricing, I'd rather purchase a camera system or large purchase through KEH than ebay. They have good customer service and an excellent return policy. I've only bought bargain grade, and ex+/ex a couple.. Ex+ was like new to me, bargain was a good deal.

If you call them or even email they can describe the items in better detail.
Good place.

I've ordered from KEH for a long time, and only once had a problem (an F4 with a bad aperture actuator, which they let me return for a refund). Buy from them with confidence.

Usually before I buy anything on eBay I check KEH to see if they have it in stock. For some things KEH can be cheaper than eBay. Because I live in Australia I always try and buy a few items at a time so that I can spread the cost of postage. So while one lensboard is pretty much the same cost buying on eBay or at KEH, if I get three at once then KEH is much cheaper than eBay. I've never had an item from KEH that disappointed me.

I have bought from them several times and had excellent service (albeit that it took time to receive the orders. But I suppose that has to do with me living in Europe and the long way the package has to travel).They were very careful to inform me about the cost of postage in advance, too.

I have been looking for a 500mm RZ lens for a few years and the best price I have encountered for the f/8 I bought from KEH was about $1900 used. I got this one for $546 with all the original accessories and expected a somewhat tattered lens but it is in ex++ condition...EC

In the last few years of putzing around with this stuff, I've bought from KEH several times & never been disappointed. If something wasn't up to snuff(IMO) there were no problems returning for refund or exchange.
In most cases I've seen KEH has had better prices than the vendors at the (now fewer) camera shows/fleamarkets.

Can we set up a weekly Monday morning KEH thread. It could automatically start at 7:00am (anytime zone) and be titled "Should I buy from KEH".

That way we could get it out of the way early in the week.

Best outfit around, to be sure... their ratings are also always one grade low.... a BGN is an EX and so on.... I just got an INOP that some how got well in the UPS truck.... works for me...

I'd say they were lower than most magazine ads..in fact, much lower. Just don't try to sell them equipment, because they won't give you much....

I've ordered from them a few times, and the equipment is always brilliant.

My only complaint is their shipping methods , especially for international. UPS through them is astronomical in price (especially when compared to B&H shipped through UPS), and USPS orders apparently sit around in their warehouse until they have enough stuff being shipped out to justify it being picked up, or something like that. I ordered some bits and pieces from them 6-8 weeks before going overseas last year, expecting it to arrive in plenty of time (had only taken 2 weeks previously), only to find it still not here by the time I left. It's not a huge deal, and I'm sure it's not completely their fault, but it's something for people to take into consideration if they're not from the US.
