I've had good luck with UPS and USPS; I tend to favor USPS. FedEx is anathema to me. Example: they put a package of film from Freestyle against the garage door, under a sign asking for packages to be left on the porch!! The garage door is subject to rain, the porch isn't. I guess walking about 40 feet to the porch was just too much for the FedEx driver.....poor baby!

I’ve had consistently good service from UPS, iffy service from FedEx, and rotten service from the USPS.

FedEx, for instance, required a signature for a package containing a $10 filter, but left a package containing a Hasselblad on the porch in plain view from the street. In recent times they’ve consistently delivered my packages to my neighbor.

USPS tracking info is frequently wrong or unavailable. You can’t trust it.

Amazon’s own delivery service is first-rate. Fast, accurate tracking, and they email me a picture of the delivered package in situ. I’ve seen UPS and FedEx drivers literally toss packages onto my porch on my surveillance cameras.

KEH often sells their broken, damaged, jammed, hazy, scratched, etc. items as
"UG" or "AS-IS" as Ebay seller "kehoutlet".
Those items can be a good source of parts.
I wouldn't be surprised if a broken GS-1 showed up there at some point, (instead of being harvested for parts for their own repair depot)...it might take a while, though.

I've had good service from UPS and USPS, and generally rotten service from FedEx. Yesterday, for example, FedEx left a package leaning against the right rear wheel of my Mazda3, ignoring a sign the garage door window asking that packages be left on the front porch!
Why on the front porch? The garage side of the house is subject to rain; the porch, about 40 feet from the driveway, almost never gets rain. IIRC FedEx drivers are independent contractors, this may explain why they seem unconcerned about their delivery practices. I ask the vendors I deal with to avoid FedEx deliveries for my orders.

Since the pandemic, Fedex here has consistently been at least one day late every single time. That is, their tracking gives a delivery date, and the item is actually delivered the day after that, or even later. USPS and UPS are both generally on time (although USPS was just several days late delivering an item I bought from a member here). I really wish I could ban myself from being shipped to via FedEx and require sellers to use a different service.

UPS (United Parcel Smashers) strictly adhere to the delivery option the sender paid for. If something is sent second day air, tracking will often show that it arrives at the local office in one day, but UPS won’t deliver it until the second day.

That means that when I order something from Southern California 2nd day air and something from the same place UPS ground, the item shipped UPS ground will arrive a day earlier than the item sent 2nd day air.

Recently I've been amazed at the speed of USPS service. I've had two books shipped to me via Media Mail in the last couple of weeks that came from the US east coast to the west coast in two days. In the past, Medial Mail typically took a week.

At my place both entry doors have signs up asking that all deliveries go to the unit doors, but USPS, UPS, FedEX and DHL all duly ignore the signs.
