I just thought I'd mention this for any LF folks who are planning a trip to Japan:
One of the cheapest sources for 4x5 Acros sheetfilm is from Yodobashi. They have a big store in the Shinjuku district. Map link They don't mail-out, so you've got to go to their store. For comparison, Megaperls lists the 20 sheet box for about $30.00 u.s., while the price from Yodobashi is only $22.00 u.s. A significant savings,...if you're there!

I have a friend who picks-up some film for me every time he goes home, so it's been great.

I go to that store at least a couple of times of month. Fuji raised the price of all BW films a few months ago, the a 20 sheet box of 4x5 Acros is now 2640 yen a box, and at todays exchange rate thats about $24USD a box. I dont know what quickloads are going for now, but the price went up on them as well.

Hope it helps.

You mean, 24 USD instead of 2,400?

But isn't it usually the case that if you import from another country, you get taxed at the customs? Plus the shipping cost depending on the weight, the total cost can get pretty high or close enough to the price at your local dealer.

If a 20 sheets box was available outside Japan.

I gotta try the paper, but maybe in a regular sizes.

Now, is it what's blocking Chugai Ilford distributor to import Ilford RC postcard paper? The email response I got from them regarding the postcard paper was that it's hardly sellable and/or marketable in Japan, so they don't.

The same goes to the 50 and 100 sheet boxes of Ilford MC FB paper for 8x10", 11x14" and up. But I'm sure there's always a high demand for a certain products that they miss.
