Busch Pressman C

I just purchase a It is a Busch Pressman Model C and it has a Graflex Optar 101mm 1:4.5 lens, and a Kalart Synchronized Range Finder Icame with a flash cable but no film holders if any one has some that can be spared I will be interested also I found a link that shows how to adapt a roll back to the spring back the link is

If you want film holders, try mpex.com or look on eBay. For 2x3 sheet film, try J&C.

About mounting a roll holder, the trick that Jo Lommen published is well-known -- Graflex, Inc., sold a kit to accomplish the same thing -- and prevents focusing on the ground glass. If you're going to shoot only with the 101/4.5 Optar and focus using the Kalart, the trick will do just fine for you. Note that the Kalart's close focusing limit is around 3 feet.

If you want to focus on GG, then your best option is the despised Adapt-A-Roll 620. Read about it at www.graflex.org. Oh, and by the way, I wrote the FAQ on it there.

Or sell the Busch and get a Graphic with a Graflok back. The Busch is slightly more capable but, IMO, less useful than a 2x3 Pacemaker Graphic because splicing a Graflok on one is a major job and because boards for the Busch are very hard to find. Nice camera, its a pity they are so poorly supported.

I got a great price on the camera so I may keep it for a bit ( love the ardeco details on it) I do understand what you are talking about I will love to get my hands on a Graphic 4x5 but I will like to sale one of my RB 's first

Based on current ebay prices for them it must not be quite SO despised
I really like them actually, despite their quirks. Thanks for the FAQ by the way.

I like them too, Nathan. Have three, use 'em.

But for some odd reason, most of the times that I suggest the AAR as a solution to a problem (A solution, rarely THE solution), negative comments come back. I don't know whether the comments reflect bad experiences or lack of willingness to put up with the quirks.

The low opinion of the Adapt-A-Roll probably comes solely from its propinquity for 620 film. From what I've heard, it's possible to convert them to use 120, at least on the supply side.

No need to convert them. Just stick a 120 on the supply side and it's a go. IF you have a 620 take up spool. Big thing is to clean the things. I bet on average many have been sitting unused for years.

Loading for me was VERY wierd until I read the manual. Then it was easy.

I'm not saying it's the worlds greatest holder but mine worked just fine once it was cleaned up. FWIW mine is the 4x5 model but I don't think that makes much if any difference.

Donald, go to www.graflex.org and read the FAQ. I typed it once, I'm not going to do that again. I didn't say it in the FAQ, but threading the paper leader through to the takeup spool is very easy.

I find mine easier to load than my Subsea/Graflex RH-8.
