Man I wish!

I prefer to visit the Black Rock Desert when there aren't a half million freaks all over the place. If I want to see that, I just visit www.latfh.com

OK - maybe that was a little knee-jerky. But I still like being in the middle of the Black Rock when there's almost nobody there.

The rumor is no one is going this year. Won't they be surprised.

Been twice, Last time 10 years ago. After the second time (when the attendance went to 25K) I figured... Why?

Too many rules, to many idiots. Not enough fun.

I do have coworkers who have been to every one since 94 or 95. I think vacation time is too important to spend in that atmosphere.

But... it might just be your cuppa tea.

I'd say that burning man has jumped the shark, but my friends have informed me that the phrase jumped the shark has jumped the shark.

I'd like to go but I'm starting to learn that these things are great in the early years but by the time I find out about them the buzz if over and it's gone mainstream.

What does "jumped the shark" mean.... besides that I need to get out more often.

"What does jumped the shark mean?"

Ever watch Happy Days? It's what the Fonz did, marking the beginnings of the show's slow decline in popularity. It's become synonymous with things reaching their "best before" date.

Hmmmmm?

Thousands of people drunk, stoned or crazy in the desert for a week with limited water, limited sanitation, limited law enforcement.
In my 20s in the 1980s at the Terlingua Chili Cook-offs it was fun. Now doesn't sound like so much. Besides, there was no ticket for the Terlingua bash, just show up with enough resources to survive the week.

Read the fine print. BM hates photographers and lays claim to rights for any photos you take while you're there.
