I have a Windows 7 machine, HP, that came with a card reader already installed. It has worked perfectly for bout a year. Two days ago I used it no problems. Yesterday I slide a CF card, like always , into the slot and nothing.
The computer does not seem to know the card reader is there any longer????
How can I get to computer to find the card reader?
Try going to the Control Panel and Installing New Hardware, under Hardware & Sound, sometimes the OS looses information if it gets corrupted. Also try another CF card first.
Thanks Ian. After trying that and many other things including running my program that cleans up my registry, viruses etc and then re-starting my computer to no avail, I just turned the damn thing of and let it sit for a while. When I turned it back on it works fine so situation resolved.
Thanks for the response.
I also have an HP with a built in card reader. I've noticed recently that when downloading using it, the download process has slowed way down.
The last download I did, I used my portable card reader and the download went normally again. Not sure what's going on. I'll just keep using the
portable reader I guess.
