If someone wants to try for simplicity, I recently got
a sixpack of these CFLs. They are hung with cable ties inside a plastic milk crate that fits perfectly over my contact printing frame. Then I put a sheet of heavy aluminum foil over it, leaving two ends open for air circulation. So it's crude and rube goldberg, but it took all of 10 minutes to make it. ( I already had a string of 9 sockets on a cord that I use for starting vegetables indoors ).
Print times are about twice as long as in the sun, which is fine with me ( my print times are usually measured in hours anyway, even outside ) It is nice to be able to print on a rainy day or after the sun is down.
It's out in the garage, with a switch by the door that comes from our kitchen, so I can turn it on or off from 30 feet away and don't need to worry about protecting my eyes.....
