I own a few older cameras with waist level finders equipped with magnifying loupes. Some of them I was able to find swappable magnifiers with diopter adjustments required for my vision. For others, I wasn't able to.

This got me thinking. If I take a magnifier apart, like this one, pull the lens out and send it somewhere, or just take measurements like diameter and focus, and then have someone make an equivalent but with a required diopter adjustment (focus distance). Has anyone heard of a service like this?

Thanks!

Some stores sell plain biconvex lenses off the shelf as single piece in retail. Do the math, order one, DIY-fix it to the original holder.

For example (expensive):

Or you can try Edmund's US store;

Or (cheaper but less selection), Surplus Shed:

When I was building my collimator I found all the parts I needed between these two suppliers.

I changed for the OP the site I was on to the US variant, and it actually turned up, but for unknwon reason the URL does not change...

In general I dislike their web-appearnce, which is most confusung. They also had or still have a shop for educational purpose but I could not access it.

Wouldn't most opticians be able to that easily? My optician has facilities to fit the lenses into the frames on site.
Just a thought. No idea about the cost efficiency.
