Hi, I'm a firearms enthusiast, and I'd like to take some cool pictures.

The ones that we have now, as amateurs, are stills from video cameras.

There are high speed pictures taken in absolute dark with flash triggers, and a highly technical discussion on the product, including custom built apparatus on some web page, but that goes beyond what is required, and far beyond my resources.

Does anyone have any ideas for tripping a release with sound?

I thought some cool nightime pictures could be taken by using a stobe sync, but then you'd have the problem of adjusting the delay.

Maybe I should post this question on an electronic hobbyists website.

I wonder if muzzle flash would trigger a slave sync, like a Wein Peanut sync, especially if it's somewhat dark?
Might not work with some rifles, but I'm sure a snub-nosed revolver would give enough flash!

Wein also made a sound trigger, for just such purposes. One occasionally shows up for auction.

Here are a couple of sites with info on sound/light triggers for high speed photography.
They have a very digital focus, but the techniques hold good for any camera system.

http://www.hiviz.com/tools/tools.htm
Loads of info on here, including delay circuits. plans including circuit diagrams are free, or you can buy one of their kits.

More digital focused, but some good info regardless.

Hi,
I've seen DIY plans for this exact setup (sound-triggered flash) across the 'net. It's fairly simple to set up. I'll see if I can't find them for you.
