Brown stain on negative

I was looking trough my 8X10 negatives and noticed that two of them have
brown stain throughout. Probably a did not wash the negative long enough.Could this stain be removed? and what the procedure should I use to get rid of it? I used Pyro-HD with Efke 100. The negative is properly exposed and developed.

Without meaning to sound sarcastic--do you mean a stain other than the expected overall pyro stain?

Usually negatives wash nicely so the unexposed edge is clear and negative is greyish in color. when a looked it couple days ago it had an overall brown stain from edge to edge. I was just wondering if I can save this negative and how to clean it.

No I have been using it for over a year now. I suspect I did not washed the negative long enough.

One way to find out whether it's the brown stain that's supposed to be there because you're using pyro or insufficient FIXING (not washing) which can also leave a brownish fog is to run it through fresh fix again and rewash. If the brown you're referring to disappears, it means you either didn't fix long enough or your fixer was exhausted.

Thank you very much for your replies.When negative was drying it was normal as usual other negatives I developed at the same time are OK. So it is possible I did not fix long enough. I will try to refix that negative.

I've sometimes had all negs on a roll except for a few (usually in the middle of the roll) come out clear, or three sheets of film out of four in tray development. Exhausted fixer or insufficient fixing time doesn't affect all negs equally; some clear, others get the brown fog.
