I have a bronica etrsi. Are the lenses compatible with the bronica SQA. I like the square format and would like to change as long as I can use the lenses I already own. I have three, 75mm, 50mm, and 200mm. All are PE lenses.

Unfortunately, no, as far as I know. SQ series uses S or PS designated lenses.

I have occasionally wondered if Bronica might still be around if their lenses interchanged among all their models!

I've been wondering the same thing myself, though not being an optical engineer, I'm inclined to believe there is a reason for it. At any rate, I believe that a lens optimized for an SQ would be inadequate for the GS-1. (Now, if they had reverse engineered things, they might have made the GS-1 6x7 lenses compatible with the 6x6 and 6x4.5.)

I think part of the attraction of the modern Bronicas, particularly for wedding shooters, who were a big chunk of their market, was their light weight and excellent ergonomics. Putting a 6x7 lens on a 6x4.5 camera works against that design concept.

Pentax let you mount 6x7 lenses on the 645 and I think even the 35mm. But the 6x7 lenses were the biggest and most expensive so I doubt the adapter was a big seller.
